Reproduction WW2 M1 Protective Ointment Box, Tube and Gas Detection Pamphlet.
This box held a tube with ointment to neutralize vesicant gasses or sprays that got in contact with the skin. It was carried inside the bag with the new lightweight gas mask. The M1 Protective ointment was phased out in 1942 and replace with the M4 Protective ointment .
This sturdy box, made from corrugated B-flute cardboard, consists of an outer sleeve and two telescoping inserts. In addition there is a small collar that fits around the neck of the tube of ointment to prevent it from bouncing around.
