Packaging the C Ration Can B Unit

Silver/Gold Coffee C Ration.

1: Fill coffee tin with 2 teaspoons of instant coffee powder, use a thin strip of  white tape to wrap around the outside of the can to seal the lid and bottom together.

2: Rewrap the 5 hard candies in the wrappers provided.

3: Place the coffee and the hard candies in the can.

4: Rewrap the sugar blocks in the 3 wrappers provided and place on top of the coffee can, then rearrange the hard candies to get them as level to the sugar cubes as possible.

5:Place the glassine sheet over the top of the sugar and hard candies, once the glassine is placed start layering the biscuits, the last biscuit is tricky, push lightly on top of the 4 biscuits and slide the 5th biscuit through the slots in the bottom of the can.

1: Fill the sugar carton with the correct weight of granulated sugar, seal the box, then place it in the can.

2: Rewrap the 5 hard candies in the wrappers provided.

3: Place the candies around the sugar box.

4: Fill the lemon beverage pouch with a sachet of individual lemon powder drink. Heat seal quickly (1-2 sec.) with hair crimpers or a heat sealing machine.

5: Place the lemon beverage packet on top of the hard candies and sugar box.

5:Start layering the biscuits on top of the lemon beverage pouch (there is no glassine sheet in this set up) , the last biscuit is tricky, push lightly on top of the 4 biscuits and slide the 5th biscuit through the slots in the bottom of the can.

Contents Ideas:

Putting together the C Ration can be time consuming and tedious. Trying to find local products to fit in the dimensions of the cans and wrappers can be a challenge.

This section meant to try and alleviate some of this problem, the products mentioned here are usually available in most stores or online.

For the biscuits we found that the Breton variety crackers fit perfectly in the cans.

For the hard candies we used Jolly Ranchers, inexpensive and tasty.

The lemon beverage, we used Crystal Light individual sachets.

The sugar cubes are tricky as the size that was used in WW2 is not something that is readily available here now.

We used the brand below, these cubes are from the Netherlands, you can though, put two regular cubes together and wrap them, it's a bit harder but it works.
